I've been holding onto this news & keeping it close to my heart, preparing for the day when I could finally spill my secret... only to be overcome & at a complete loss of words. That's my book in the deal announcements this week. It's really real 😭

I truly can’t wait to share more about the journey it took to get here. And I’ll be sharing lots more information about the book itself as the cover is created (by a truly incredible artist - I can’t wait to scream about them!) and as we get closer to preorders for the release in Spring 2025. I’m already planning some creative pre-order incentives & I am soooo excited to share those with everyone. For now, I’m going to celebrate this massive milestone, then get back to work on secret book 2 👀✨

The announcement reads: Kara Sargent at Aladdin Books has bought Shana Targosz's middle grade debut The Underwild: River of Spirits, a mythology-filled adventure about the power of friendship, grief, and moving forward, in a tale about Senka, ward to Charon the Ferryer of the Underworld, and her quest through the realm of the Dead to not only help a living girl named Poppy find her brother but also discover more about her own shadowy past. Publication is planned for spring 2025, with a second book to follow in spring 2026. Andrea Morrison at Writers House brokered the deal for North American rights.
